The Grapes of Wrath
John Steinbeck's, The Grapes of Wrath is a novel that depicts the hardships the great depression caused for many farmers in America. The book focuses on one of these farming families, The Joad’s, as they struggle through their economic problems, drought, and the agricultural changes in America during 1930’s. Not having much to lose the Joad’s set out for California where it is promised to be full of work and prosperity. This large family soon realizes they are not the only ones heading toward California and getting there will not be an easy task. The Grapes of Wrath brings readers back into a troubled time where courage, cooperation, and determination were vital to getting through life during the Great Depression.
